The Delegitimizing of President Donald Trump

There is something very wrong in America right now. You can almost see it, just under the surface. You can feel it in the air, like a kind of static electricity or the smell of rain, except this isn't refreshing. In fact, it's a sour like smell. The peaceful transition of power from one Presidential Administration to another is the hallmark of American government dating back to the Presidency of George Washington. It represents the essence of a Constitutional or democratic republic. Of course, that is mostly a facade these days; we are a defacto Oligarchy as most everyone knows, but nevertheless, this is still an important part of the illusion. But that's not what we're seeing or hearing.

There is no question that the political Left truly believed that Hillary Clinton was going to win the election. In fact, I think the political Right and the Establishment Republicans had consigned themselves to four years of the "Hillary and Bubba Show", especially after their handpicked cardboard candidates were taken out one by one by "the clown and his circus" as the poster child for the Establishment, Ted Cruz often said. Yet, "the clown" did indeed win. The corporate media and its scripted talking heads were gobsmacked; they were stunned and almost lost for words. The "limo liberals" of Hollywood were knocked sideways. Many had made the usual empty promises of "leaving America" if Trump won, fully expecting of course that they would never have to honor their promises and would use a Clinton victory as proof of America's affection and awe of them.

Ever since then, we have been witnessing the overt and covert sabotaging the Donald Trump and his incoming Administration; a de facto attempt by the Left, with the blessing and support of the Oligarchy, to delegitimize Trump as America's new President along with his administration; a "soft coup" as some as put it. We've witnessed demands for recounts via third parties (to avoid the taint of sour grapes), which failed. We've seen attempts to blame Hillary's failure on the Electoral College; then on supposed "Russian Hacking", complete with Congressional hearings and testimonies from the same intelligence agencies which claimed Hussein had weapons of mass destruction; and on Russian Times (RT), a global alternative media site, for hosting a debate between third party candidates Jill Stein of the Green Party and Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party (the US corporate media wouldn't give them any serious coverage. The Democrat/Republican controlled Commission on Presidential Debates doesn't let any third party or independent candidate participate in the debates, as designed since Ross Perot's performance in 1992 and 1996). So, who does that leave to blame I wonder?

We have had virtually nonstop media coverage badmouthing of Trump, his family, his nominees, and an all out effort to dig up something---anything---on any of them! We've seen Left leaning organizations publicly planning to do everything in their power to disrupt, delay, or stop the inauguration at every step; to overwhelm security, not to mention national and local protests amid slogans of "Not My President" and promises to ignore or challenge the Trump Administration at every turn. We have some 50 members of Congress throwing a hissy fit and boycotting the ceremony. Meanwhile, we have members from the corporate media basically giving advice about disrupting the proceedings, plus none too subtle discussions about what an assassination attempt on Trump would do and how it could delay Obama's departure.

While watching and reading all this, I had to reflect back on all the protests and riots by conservatives when Obama was sworn in the first time, and then, despite being nearly hated, all the hubbub the second time he took the oath of office. Oh, what a minute---there wasn't none! That's right. Despite being viewed by the Right (and many others) as a unknown, unqualified political upstart with no voting record; whose background was murky at best and teeming with possible communist fellow travelers; a possible birth in Nigeria or wherever plus being a closet Muslim who attended a racist church (and later claimed he wasn't aware of any racist sermons by the minister), there was no attempts to disrupt either of Obama's inaugurations. It seems that even conservatives, Republicans, and the political extreme Right, was willing to swallow their collective pride, rub their sore butts, and respect the rule of law as laid out by the Founder's and accept the outcome. They were also willing to respect the transition of power peacefully despite their personal opinions of the incoming President, if for no other reason, than out of respect for the Constitution.

Of course, this isn't the first time in recent years where there has been controversy regarding an election. Everyone remembers George W. Bush and Al Gore's election outcome (Florida's "dangling chads"), which was resolved (albeit illegally) by the Supreme Court which decided for Bush (the decision should have been made by the House of Representatives according to the Constitution, but with a GOP controlled House, the outcome would have likely been the same). Nevertheless, while there were was a "hue and cry" from the Left, there was no planned demonstrations or attempts to disrupt Bush's inauguration. Going back a couple of generations, we had the 1960 election between John Kennedy and Richard Nixon, which was the closest presidential race to date at the point. There was little question of voter fraud, especially in West Virginia, as a result of Kennedy money and mob influence or in Chicago thanks to the "machine" of Mayor Richard Daley. But, rather than challenge the results, Nixon accepted the results and encouraged Americans to do so as well (of course if we're going to talk about corrupt elections, we could be at this for awhile).

Regardless though, this election and the subsequent fallout has been unprecedented in its virile hatred of in the incoming President. I guess one could expect this from the extremist, but this isn't coming just from them (I would include Hollywood here since they live in their own little insulated world). It's coming from what is supposed to the more rational Left, including Establishment Democrats, the corporate media, college campuses and academia, and it extends all the way down to state and local levels. It's "as if" the Left felt "entitled" somehow to the Office of the President and that entitlement has been unfairly denied them. So, like spoiled children, they're determined to throw a temper tantrum and try to make everyone's lives as miserable as possible until they get their way. Well, four years is going to be a long wait. I don't know if they can stay in their "safe spaces" that long. Sooner or later, reality will sit in, at least I hope. If they're smart (I said "if"), they will use the next four years to see where they went wrong (such as promoting someone who was more corrupt than Al Capone, not to mention arrogant to point of ignoring security protocols, repeatedly lying to Congress, leaking secure information and committing numerous possible acts of treason; and then there was Benghazi). Her promises of following in the footsteps of Obama, especially in areas of foreign policy didn't help---just ask Israel and our allies in Europe. How did we go from a President telling the American People he wasn't a crook to a candidate for President who made no qualms about it in under 50 years? At the risk of sounding callous, what difference does it make? I'm not saying Trump is any better, not by a long shot. We, as Americans, have found ourselves going from scrapping the bottom of barrel in trying to find competent political representation to scrapping under the bottom of the barrel.

Perhaps this is by intent. The Oligarchy which now controls this country needs chaos. It needs apathy as much as it needs for us to feel insecure and unease. Why? Simple. As history has repeatedly shown, a people, when faced with insecurity and fear will always---always---surrender its freedom for a sense of peace, safety, and stability. Business, especially big business, the kind the Oligarchs run, needs this too. They can't make long term plans and financial projections without it. Besides, with the kind of stability they need and want, comes control, and control is the name of them game for them. So, regardless of what you think of Trump, let's give him a fair chance to prove himself one way or another. If he does good, yeah us. If not, we'll know better the next time. Of course, despite all their rhetoric, both parties are bought and paid with the same coin. It's their game and their rules. We're just the "marks" to use an old con game term. I think we know that by now. If Trump doesn't work out, then perhaps it's time to change coins and change the rules.

Hillary's Presidential Campaign Failure: The Russians Did It!

This is getting beyond amusing and into the realm of the absurd. Hillary Clinton, in one of her first talks since losing the 2016 Presidential Election, is now claiming that the reason for her loss was that Russia's Vladimir Putin had a "personal beef" with her. Seriously? Her loss had nothing to do with Benghazi and the deaths of an ambassador or three former Navy SEALs and CIA operatives? It had nothing to do with her repeated lying to Congress, or the Senate or the American People? It had nothing to do with arrogant disregard for security procedures regarding classified emails and other communications: her attempts to withhold or destroy evidence? Her defeat had zero to do with using the office of Secretary of State as a gatekeeper in a multimillion dollar "pay to play" scheme involving countries and corporations and their bribes....err..."donations" to her Clinton Foundation, not to mention attempts to avoid taxes by making substantial donations to her own fun. How about doing illegal arms smuggling deals to groups like ISIS and Al Qaeda (you know---9/11 and the butchering of thousands of Kurds, Christians, and Yazidi or the selling of hundreds of young women into sex slavery). What about the selling of uranium to Russia? Do you think that miffed Putin?

Let's not forget that all of this started off with allegations by the CIA and others in the intelligence community that Russia somehow manipulated our federal election system against Hillary. They also allege that the thousands of WikiLeaks originated from the Russians and more recently, since Putin was a former KGB station chief, that he had both the time and expertise to be directly involved in helping to the "throw" the election to Donald Trump. And if that wasn't enough, we've had to endure efforts to "recount" votes in key states and cities, which was initiated by Green Party Presidential Candidate Jill Stein, who almost magically was able to raise some five million dollars in a week whereas she could only come up with three millions for her campaign during the entire course of the election! What's more, it appears that much of the money raised for the recount came from the Hillary supporters. When it turned out that the recount wasn't going to work (and was resulting in the loss of votes mistakenly counted for both Stein and Hillary), it was quietly dropped. Of course, Stein got to keep the money left over. I wonder what you would call that anyway---a payoff? Whatever it's called, it destroys the credibility of not just Jill Stein, but the Green Party too, not to mention the integrity of the third parties who may now be viewed as pawns of the two corporate parties, the Democrats and Republicans (I guess if Trump had lost, it would have been Libertarian Party Candidate Gary Johnson who would have demanded a recount on behalf of the Establish Republicans, though I would hope he has more character than that).

Now if that wasn't a big enough farce, the corporate media has been nonstop in their attempts to delegitimize Trump's victory and criticizing every move Trump or someone in his camp makes, from who he interviews for various Cabinet posts to opting to conduct the interviews in the privacy of his own residence (Trump maintains a luxury apartment in Trump Towers, which he owns). Naturally, they'll do the same to anyone he chooses. Finally, with their failure to generate any interests in the recounts, Hillary supporters and members of the DNC, as wells as members of other groups, are trying to intimidate the members of the Electoral College into not doing their sworn duty and casting their votes for the winner of the election, Donald Trump. Some, if not all by this point, have received thousands of death threats, harassing phone calls, letters, and emails. They are demanding that they vote for Hillary Clinton instead.
As if this isn't insane enough, Hollywood's Leftwing; these so-called "celebrities" are also lending their voices to this hue and cry. Some, are even doing short commercials insisting that the Electoral College both be done away with (which would throw all future presidential elections to those states with the largest populations) and to ignore their state's election outcome and vote for Hillary. By law, the candidate who wins the most states receive that state's allotted Electoral votes. Approximately a month after the election, those members of the Electoral College gather to cast their votes for the winner in their state. In theory, they are under no specific obligation to vote the way their state intended, but traditionally they've always done so. Lastly, there has been threats by buttercups and snowflakes...I mean...Left leaning Millennial college students...to boycott classes, disrupt public activity (such as transportation) and hold protests. Some have promised to cause problems at the inauguration (wow, I hope it's not as bad as it was the last two times. Oh yeah, that's right. Conservatives and the GOP didn't riot, stage protests, disrupt public activity or makes jackasses of themselves at Obama's inaugurations). I swear, the Left is teetering on having a collective epileptic fit. So, let's get down to the point of all this.

First off, these are ALLEGED cyber attacks, and secondly, what a crock of BS. Now "St. Hillary" is claiming there was an international plot---lead by Putin--to deprive her of the coronation, to which she believes she was entitled. Wasn't it Hillary who said there was not rigging of elections? Yet, she and Debbie Wassermann-Schultz were found to be rigging the Primary and DNC Convention against Bernie Sanders (and for which Debbie was fired and then hired the next day by her ole pal Hillary)? And wasn't it Hillary who said "in our system of democracy, some win and some lose"? And wasn't it also Hillary who said that Trump had to accept the "Will of People" and results of the election? It's time for Mrs. Clinton to shuffle off to the "dustbin of History" where she belongs and let this nation try and repair the damage of the last eight years.

Secondly, it's time for Obama to acknowledge that Donald Trump won and Hillary Clinton loss. He needs to start acting like a President and stop with his efforts to stir up hated and discontent, which seems to be about the only things he's actually accomplished in his eight years. Enough with the implied threats and innuendos; of warning Trump to keep his hands off of certain policies and so on. Obama has been acting like a spoiled little brat who didn't get his way, and so now he's acting like a little snot. Obama is acting as if Trump's election was a personal affront; a reflection of his regime and is policies (well, actually it was, especially since Hillary said that she intended to carry on some of Obama's objectives). Well, like Hillary, it's time for Obama to put on his big boy underwear and act like an President (or at least an adult). Obama had his time. Now, like Hillary, it's time to go. "The Donald" may fall flat...or he might be one of America's greatest Presidents ever. Only time will tell, but we, as a nation, owe that to Trump for no other reason than the fact that he is the incoming President. Let "The Donald" prove himself one way or the other without trying to sabotage him before he even gets started.

Lastly, if any of what Hillary, Obama, the corporate media, the CIA says is true, then we have much more serious problems than worrying about the Electoral College. If...and that's a really big "If"...Russia did manipulate the election of an American President, then we have a complete and catastrophic failure of our entire intelligence infrastructure from the NSA, CIA, DIA to Homeland Security and the FBI. We also have an utter failure of the internal electoral safeguards from the manufacturers of the voting machines to the County Clerks who count the ballots all the way up to the offices of every single Secretary of State responsible for tabulating and verifying the votes casts in this country. I'm not saying that it is entirely impossible. There are numerous instances of paper ballots and sometimes machine ballots being miscounted, of the unregistered and occasionally illegal individuals voting, people selling their votes, and of course, the dead voting. Don't forget that the DNC worked to rig results in certain specific locations against Sanders, but still, there was no nationwide voter fraud as now being alleged by Hillary supporters.

Meanwhile, as some sort of punitive backlash, the corporate media is going after alternative news and radio media sites, including Conservative and Right leaning bloggers and YouTube Channel hosts. These are some of the same corporate media outlets which almost openly campaigned for Hillary and was often the source of actual "fake news". They are claiming that alternative "fake news" sites led to Hillary's defeat and Obama's dismissal approval ratings (and, I suspect, the pathetic approval ratings of Congress and Supreme Court which have been in the dumpster for decades). Therefore, in an effort to control public information content, corporate and some social media outlets like Facebook are joining forces. I know that somewhere both Joseph Goebbels and Joseph Stalin have found something to smile about together.

So, let's face facts. The Russians aren't responsible for Hillary Clinton's loss. Hillary was. It was her arrogance and her actions that caused her to lose the election. I think one could successfully argument that it was also Obama and his policies which contributed to her loss as well. Julian Assuage, founder of WikiLeaks and Edward Snowden have both said that their information did not come from the Russians, or any other government for that matter. It came from with the DNC and the political system that was fed up with the corrupt status quo. In 1980, Ronald Reagan asked Americans in his campaign for President if, after four years of Carter's Presidency, they were better now than four years go. The answer was no, and Reagan became our 40th President. A similar, but unspoken question was put to Americans again in this election, and once more, the answer was a collective "no". Yes, it's true that Putin doesn't like Hillary Clinton. He also doesn't like Obama, Joe Biden, or John Kerry but so what? It's time Hillary, the DNC, and yes, the Obama Regime, take ownership of their loss. They repeatedly ignored the American People, as has the Establishment Republicans.
Trump's victory wasn't your victory. You worked just as hard against Trump as did the Left. Both corporate parties assumed we were asleep. We weren't. We were vitally awake and we were tired of seeing our nation destroyed bit by bit. Trump might not do any better, which is ok. We'll vote him out too. We are tired of the Oligarchy ruling our nation. We're fed up with their corporate owned media which spins, misdirects and misleads us at every opportunity. We're tired of the "unsweetened blue Kool-Aid" Republicans and the "sweetened red Kool-Aid" Democrats; both bought and paid for by the neo-fascist Oligarchs who do everything in their power to divide us. Regardless of our political leanings or race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any other factors, we must come together and focus our energy on rebuilding this country in our image; to serve our needs; to represent us, not the uber-rich or the political class, and most certainly, not the Oligarchy.

Snowflakes and Buttercups

Let me ask you question. Let's say you're driving down the expressway. It's starting to get a bit late and as usual, the lighting isn't so great. You're tired and just want to get home. There's not a lot of traffic on the expressway in either direction. Up ahead you see something; a lot of movement moving toward the overpass directly in front of you. As you get closer, you see it's a large group of people; some are carrying something but you can't tell what. A few seconds later you're close enough to see that this mod of people are protestors and some are carrying signs. A few seem to be trying to get you to stop...for what who knows? What you know is that there's not much traffic out and no body to help you in case things go wrong, and given what you've seen on TV, most of these protests end up as riots with looting, burning, rapes, robbery, and a lot of bottle and rock throwing. Then you see they are spreading across the expressway in an attempt to block you and anyone else who happen along. What do you do? Well get back to your answer shortly.

Ever since "The Donald" surprised the political Left with his decisive victory over Hillary Clinton, her supporters---mostly Left leaning Millennials, hardcore Democrats, and a few Bernie Sanders supporters have been alternating between acting like someone just stole their ice cream cone and kids being told they can't play on their IPod until they clean up their rooms (to be honest, I'm not sure kids actually have to that anymore, but I'm sure you get the analogy). Classes at some of the nation's top schools have cancelled because the students are too "distraught". Some colleges have cancelled midterms and, instead, set up "cry-ins" where students can come and have a good cry among friends. A few of these centers of higher learning have even ordered in pizza because, well, after a good cry I guess they figure everyone likes a cheese pizza (I suppose there was a special standby of salad, you know, just in case). A few other colleges--and even high schools---have established "safe place" away from the media and "mean" students who aren't as "sympathetic" to their pain.

Meanwhile, some of these individuals, after sucking it up, have gone out protesting; a few with signs saying "Not My President", "Love Trumps Hate", "No White Supremacy", "We Won't Obey", as well as some that are pretty vulgar (must be English or American Lit majors). Some of these protests have involved confrontation with the local police, and there has been several calls from people who should know better to assassinate the president-elect (just in case you don't understand our political system, given that you want to do away with the Electoral College and all, that won't result in a "do over" or make Hillary the President as sort of a runner-up prize. It means that Vice President Mike Pence becomes President, and if something should happen to him, the presidency goes to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, so you might want to think these things through---just a suggestion).

A few of these protests have turned violent and devolved into riots, complete with looting, burning, destroying property and beating of white and Asian folks (it's almost "as if" somebody or some group is trying to start a race war for some reason. Of course, that would result in martial law being declared. Now, who do you think would want to do that and why?). I'm not sure what that purpose of all that is, but the message it sends is "Hey look at us. We're idiots. We're trashing neighborhoods". It's no big deal to be upset about the results of an election, but that's not how you change things. It simply makes the situation worse and less likely that anyone will listen to you. But, given that we are connected globally in ways that we were never before, groups have formed in Europe to protest Trump's election. The really amusing part is that their protests are based mostly off of rumors spread by Left leaning groups in this country and misinformation spread by the corporate media which has been actively---and more or less covertly---working against Trump since just before he announced he was running! The only media who seem to be getting it right are over at RT News. Not even Fox News has kept their promise to keep it "fair and balanced".

The fact is that Trump won the election, regardless of what the corporate media had been saying for during the entire election cycle, so face it---you were lied to. You were lied to by not just the corporate media, but the Democratic Party, the out-of-touch celebrity types, but yes, even by Hillary. You saw in real time how Hillary's camp and the DNC worked to rig the Primary and convention against Bernie Sanders and you heard from Hillary's own emails the crimes she committed without any sense of remorse or hesitation. You saw how the Republican Establishment worked against Trump throughout the entire campaign; even occasionally working in cooperation with the Democrats and corporate media to smear Trump, a family member, or a supporter of his. Now you understand some of what those on the Right have been saying all along about how badly the system is broken. You saw how economic elites, both political parties, as well as the political system itself worked hand-in-mailed-glove against the best interests of us---the citizens of this country.

I'm sure those on both the Left and the Right are not going to like everything Trump does, but then nobody ever does. Despite being in the public eye, the presidency is a very lonely job; something I'm sure every President has quickly learned. But remember too, those on the Right had to endure eight years of Obama, and while you might think he was a good president, many in America didn't, and neither did many of the world's leadership, but you never saw an temper tantrums did you? You never saw any "cry-ins" or demands for "safe places". You also never saw any looting, burning, destroying of property, or beating up of liberals (or yelling at them and making them cry) or for that matter, any protests.

Now, let's get back to my opening question. What would you do if you suddenly saw yourself being blocked by a group of protestors...or possible rioters? From news reports, most drivers, while attempting to avoid hitting anyone, would not stop out of fear of being attacked or damage to their vehicle. So far, there has been two individuals severely injured trying to block traffic and several who have been slightly injured. There's nothing wrong with protests, but not everyone is going to agree with you; in fact, most aren't. Don't expect them to act accordingly, so use common sense. Oh, by the way, there was one death as a direct of these protests. It seems one older individual died of a heart attack. He was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital but protestors blocked the expressway and wouldn't let the ambulance through. Had he made it to the hospital he would have likely lived. I hope the organizers of this protest showed up at his funeral to explain to his family and friends why their actions where more important than his life. Personally, I think the police should have rounded up everyone of these individuals and charged them with contributory homicide and refused any plea deals. Actions do have consequences be they economic, political, social, or humanitarian.

Election Fallout: Giddy Conservatives and Democrats Losing Their Minds

Politics is a tough business. Many would say it's a dirty business, and having been involved in politics as a community and political activist, a campaign manager and advisor, and occasionally as a candidate, I can't say I disagree. Politics is also a unpredictable business too, despite all the polls and talking heads pretending they've got their finger on the pulse of public. Most, I would say, in actuality have their finger elsewhere, so it didn't come as a particular surprise to me when---much to the corporate media's chagrin--- Donald Trump became America's 45th President. In fact, it was funny listening to the talking heads on election night. They were so convinced that Hillary Clinton would win, they were acting as if her coronation was all but a foregone conclusion. Most were busy talking about all the various scenarios of how Hillary could and would win and who would be in her Cabinet, and what issues she would tackle first. Of course too, for the sake of variety I'm sure, they spent time talking about what would happen if Trump refused to accept the verdict of the voters and what would a contested election look like; would he file suit and ultimately appeal to the Supreme Court which George W Bush did in his race against Al Gore (the Supreme Court illegally decided the outcome of the election in violation of the Constitution. The decision belongs to the Speaker of the House and the House of Representatives).

So, now we have the Democrats and the political Left losing their collective minds. There has been well over a 100 protests and riots, complete with burning cars and businesses, looting, dozens of arrests, blocking streets and highways (never a smart idea), throwing bottles, garbage, and carrying signs reading "Not My President", "Love Trumps Hate", and many more; some quite vulgar. Thus far, while here have been a few confrontations with the police, there has been only one serious injury reported, and that was a woman struck by a vehicle in Oakland during a protest. Some are suddenly called for the end of the Electoral College (which I doubt they actually understand the significance of). most of the protests and riots seem to be located in large cities like Oakland, Miami, Chicago, New York City, Seattle, and a few small cities and towns like Louisville and Bowling Green Kentucky as well as in Paris, Berlin, and London. Russia, on the other hand, seems to welcome Trump's election based on the fact that they believe Trump is someone who is intelligent, reasonable and open minded.
As an aside, some are claiming that billionaire George Soros is behind the protests, or at least behind hiring "professional" protesters and organizers. Some claim it's communists or socialists (the terms are often and incorrectly used interchangeably) while a few like to throw Soros into the mix as well not realizing that communism or socialism would be an antithesis to everything he stands for as a dyed-in-the-wool capitalist, though admittedly, Soros does support some Left leaning causes and campaigns, like that of Hillary's the way the Koch Brothers support those on the Right.

We haven't heard much out of Beijing yet. Perhaps they're taking their usual "wait and see" approach. Meanwhile, many of the Muslim countries aren't too thrilled. I suspect they are reevaluating the billions they invested in the Clinton Foundation while the scramble around to see if "The Donald" has a similar foundation to redirect their... uh..."donations" and contemplate having to absorb the millions of "refugees" they've been trying to force on the West while their refugee camps set completely furnished... and empty. ISIS claims the election of Trump will be a boon to their recruiting efforts. Perhaps so, but I suspect they're going to miss Hillary. She was pretty good for their recruiting and resupplying efforts from what we're hearing from WikiLeaks. Of course, we mustn't forget the dozens of so-called "celebrities" who promised to leave the country if Trump won. While I personally think they were just running off at their mouths and trying to promote a false sense of bravado, given the "sure thing" of a Hillary victory, I believe, however, that in order to maintain what shred of credibility they had, they need to start packing don't you?
I'm specifically speaking about the likes of Ellen DeGeneres, Rosie O'Donnell, Jon Stewart, Lady Gaga, Cher, Christina Aguilera, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Streisand, Kanye West and the Kardashians (neither of whom I consider celebrities), Lena Dunham, Spike Lee, George Lopez, Amy Schumer, Raven-Symone', Samuel L. Jackson (he can use what's in his wallet to buy a plane ticket) and Miley Cyrus who can leave on her "wreaking ball" to mention just a few. I guess their opinions---and threats---just didn't carry the weight or influence they thought it did. Anyway, hope you all have a nice flight where ever you end up. Oh, but a word of warning. Canada is asking that you all don't come there. Seriously. They are ads running north of the border asking that these whiney ass star-wannabes and has-beens look elsewhere. Isn't that a hoot? Even liberal Canada doesn't want them!

Back on the home front, the devastated Hillary supporters seem to be shell shocked. Some universities, like Cornell, are holding "cry-ins" so that students (supposedly young adults) can sit in a circle, cry, and share their feelings; coloring books and color pencils are being provided---seriously. Some, like at Yale have seen midterms cancelled with either the university or professors providing classroom space and free pizza in order to allow students (and some faculty) so commensurate with each other. I guess if these individuals actually acted like adults, I'd recommend a beer to cry into but I don't think they should have anything stronger than a root beer. In a few other cases, classes have been suspended for the rest of the week while others are seeking out their "safe spaces". Of course, as stated above, some have taken to streets (and highways) to protest and demand a do-over! As one gal put it, "I voted and I didn't win so I have no choice but to protest the decision". That's a girl. Maybe if you hold your breath long enough they'll do a recount just for you.

The worrisome aspect to all this is not the temper tantrums or the fact that anti-Trump protestors are using baby pins (aka diaper pins) to show solidarity with each other, but the fact that some are openly calling for the assassination of Trump. Admittedly, America is not the nation it once was. Heck, it's not even the Constitutional republic it once was. We are an Oligarchy and we're given the illusion of choice, but we've always managed a peaceful transition of power from one party or individual to the next. I think the last time we had this much anger was when Lincoln won! How many protests do you recall when Obama was elected---either time? Yet, me either, and we survived his eight years. I'm a child of the late 60's and the 70's. I grew up watching protests, riots, sit-ins, the Black Panthers, the Weathermen, and the SLA. I participated in a few too. I'm fine with protests personally (but not rioting. That's just stupid to destroy someone else's property), but before running off demanding that someone be murdered or "assuming" that somehow your life or lifestyle is suddenly about to be ruined, don't you think you need to give him an opportunity to prove himself one way or another? We did Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, George H Bush and his son, George W. We also gave Barak Obama eight years. Sometimes are fears were justified. Sometimes not.

Lastly, I would like to address the Republican Party. Since Trump's election, the GOP Establishment has been acting like Trump's victory was a referendum on Republican policies. Listen, you all did your damnest to defeat Trump. You made fun of him (often calling him a "clown" and his campaign "a circus"). You belittled his proposed polices ( like on illegal immigration and building a wall on our Southern border---remember?) You put up all of your "Establishment" candidates against him. You tried to railroad him out of the RNC Convention. Your Establishment leaders like Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney and the Bushes refused to endorse him. You repeatedly demanded for him to step down right up to the closing days of the race! Even the once "fair and balanced" FOX News showed hits butt when it came to Trump. Trump's election is not---I repeat---is not an endorsement of your policies or values. Trump spoke to the good old fashioned working class values, and RNC, that ain't you. So, before your puff out your (so-called) chests and strut around Washington as if you all did something special, you best recall that We the People know who did what and we see you for what you are---part of the problem, not the solution. So, take a close look at that turkey come Thanksgiving. That just may be you.

The Defining Election: Trump's Victory and Hillary's Defeat

There's an old expression about choosing between the devil you know and the devil you don't know, the deplorables went with the one they didn't know. On Tuesday, November 8th, the American People chose the devil they didn't know. They had seen what the Clintons were all about. They remembered all lies to Congress, the FBI, and the American People themselves. The remembered the breaches in national security, the unsecured cell phones, the "pay-to-play" Clinton Foundation and the tens of millions of dollars paid in by corporations and governments and tens of thousands of supporting emails leaked by WikiLeaks. They remembered the illegal gunrunning supplying the very same groups who've been murdering Christians, Kurds, and Yazidis and who have sponsoring the terrorist attacks in Europe and the US, otherwise known as treason.
They remembered Benghazi, Ambassador Stevens and the three brave SEALs. Most of all, I think the American People remembered being called a "basketful of deplorables". Hillary made it personal with that ill thought out remark. It reminds me of another off the cuff remark made by a rich arrogant aristocrat who once told a starving population to go "eat cake". Her name was Marie Antoinette. The French People repaid the slight by removing her head via "Monsieur Guillotine". Fortunately for Hillary, we just voted for her opponent.

Of course, President-elect Donald Trump isn't anything to write home about. He's a brash, abrupt bordering on rude New York real estate mogul. He's famous (or infamous if you prefer) for playing aggressive hardball. He has razor sharp negotiating skills just as one might expect from someone in his chosen profession. He's made some spectacular business deals and more than a few spectacular business blunders, but as he has often said, "no risk no reward" and "'the bigger the risk the bigger the reward" and no one can argue that Trump doesn't go big. "The Donald" has made some very insensitive remarks about women, but then they were nothing out of the ordinary; what's often referred to as "guy talk" (and ladies, don't pretend that you don't do it too). Trump also didn't act like he was going through the motions on his way to a coronation. Throughout the campaign, Trump was able to do what no other candidate on either side could do---he spoke to the American People as one of them. He was able to tap into the mindset of America and then give voice to it. Not even Cruz, the Bushes, Rubio, Paul, Clinton or Sanders could do that (although Sanders perhaps came the closest). Despite all of Trump's business acumen and ability to speak to the hearts of the American People, let's remember that he has no political experience. he is an outsider despised by the political elite. Hillary has over 30 years worth of political experience and was the ultimate insider, which in reality, may have contributed to her downfall given voter sentiment towards Washington and the "Beltway Mob". I guess those of us in "Flyover Country" as the elites call working class America see Donald Trump as our way of saying "up yours".

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying Trump was the best choice. I'm not even saying Trump was a good choice. I am, however, saying that to the American People, he was the least worse choice. We need to remember that both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are regarded as the two most disliked candidates in recent history. Some want to "blame" the Trump victory on a low turnout by gays, blacks, Hispanics, and Millennials. I don't think so. I think these groups did turn out, after all, they comprise the demographics of today's Democratic Party coalition, along with women of course (the Millennials, America's largest demographic, are actually not mostly Democrats. They are Independents. They tend to hold their noses and vote either Democrat or third party---Green or Libertarian---because the Republican Party doesn't offer them any real alternative). These groups did turn out, but it was the rural voters who surprised everyone and came out in droves. Rural voters tend to mostly working class, conservative but not extreme conservative or rightwing religious zealots.
As a rule, this demographic doesn't vote often since they believe the system is so corrupt their vote wouldn't matter (not altogether an inaccurate description). Oh, and by the way, they're mostly white, and speaking of race, Trump received a substantial number of black votes too. These were individuals who are socially and economically conservative; a large percentage are small business owners. Most are first or second generation middle class. They strongly oppose groups like "Black Lives Matter", which they see as socially destructive and more apt to throw gains by the black community out the window and foster more---not less--race hatred. As an aside, I think this election also showed bobble headed pundits that Obama wasn't as popular as they claimed he was. and exposed their inability to read the public.

Speaking of "Black Lives Matter" and being socially destructive, I presume you've noticed all the protests and riots, looting, and burning by anti-Trump/Pro-Hillary supporters. There's been protests in Los Angeles, Oakland, Chicago, Atlanta, and New York City just to mention a few. It has been decades since there's been anything like this (the election of Lincoln comes to mind). The only reasons I can think of is that they are mad because they lost. If it had been the other way around, they would be telling the Trump supporters to get over it; I doubt that it would have even registered on the corporate media's radar. Secondly, all the "free stuff" they thought they were going to get from a Hillary Presidency just went out the window. They are going to be expected to work or be in school to get government (taxpayer) money, and there is a good chance they are going to have to undertake periodic drug screenings. Bummer huh?
Illegal immigration will be cracked down on and ICE and Border agents will finally get to do their jobs (I would suggest "chipping" those deported so that if they're caught again, they get an all expense paid stay at a taxpayer supported institution we call to call "prison"). No more taxpayer support for illegal immigrants either. If they want to be here---great. Get in line and do it the right way like everyone else. Thugs who run around looting and burning may end up regretting their poor choices under a Trump Administration too, and if "The Donald" keeps his word, no more worries about unvetted Muslims coming to America. Hopefully too we will get the hell out of the Middle East and let the residents of that political cesspool sort things out. America needs to focus on taking care of Americans first and foremost.

By the way, I've been reading that since the election, college students---note that carefully---college students have been holding "cry-ins" where they sit and cry, and consol each other over Hillary's loss. Some have been retreating to so-called "safe places". In a few cases, classes have been cancelled and the school (or professor) has ordered pizza so they can sit and talk out their frustrations. Yeah, I'm serious here. I heard one such crybaby say that she voted and lost so she has no other choice but to protest the results. What kind of wussyfied individuals (I'm hesitant to use the term "adults") are we producing in this country? Are they issuing adult size diapers at orientation? The more I see and read the more I am beginning to agree that these sissies be required to spend a couple of years in the military just to grow up. At least they could combine their "safe space" and "cry-in" into the same spot. It's called a "foxhole".

As for the Republican Party, don't be so smug (I'm talking to you Mitch and Paul Ryan). Trump's win wasn't your win. This was not a vindication for Republican values. the American People are not Leftwing or Rightwing extremists. They are not "Communist" wannbes (or to use the misapplied term, "socialist"), nor are they ultra-conservative religious zealots. The majority of Americans are centrists; a little Left on some, mostly social, issues and a little Right, mostly on economic, issues. They believe in fairness and a level playing field for everyone. The only ones who are truly "racists" are the ones running around and calling others "racist". Religion, like sexual orientation, is a personal and private matter, not something to be rubbed in everyone's face. They still admire good pay for good day's work, a good education, and in being patriotic. They dislike having someone else's values or religion being imposed on them and they expect people to speak the common language of this country---English. As for the GOP ruling elite, they did everything they could---and I mean everything---to defeat or discredit Trump from the pre-primary all the way through the closing days of the race.
The Establishment Republicans like Rubio, the Bushes, Paul Ryan, Ted Cruz, Mitt Romney and Mitch McConnell went after Trump every way they could, up to and including disavowing Trump even after he won the nomination and feeding the corporate media misinformation which they were only too glad to use. There were even calls for him to step aside and let a "real" Republican step in (two time loser Mitt Romney kept trying to float his own name).Trump's victory is, if anything, a repudiation of nearly everything the Republican Party elites have been peddling. In fact, it gives Republican-burned people like me a little hope for real change which will revive the GOP of old and keep it relevant. The Democrats have the same opportunity to remake the Democratic Party now that the Clintons have been consigned to the rubbage heap of history to quote Trotsky.

Hillary Clinton represents (or represented if you prefer) the past. To my embarrassment and chagrin, Bill and Hillary Clinton are Babyboomers like myself (though in my defense, they belong to the "First Wave" Babyboomers and not my "Second Wave" cohort). They are the products of the early to mid 1960's. Their idealism, however noble it was originally was in the beginning, has become tainted and corrupted to the point where their self-interest, under the lie of a creating more inclusive society, became an end unto itself. To put it another way, the flower child became crabgrass. But, that doesn't mean that all of the original ideals of my generation (both cohorts) are all bad. There were some wonderful and revolutionary goals achieved like Civil Rights and major improvement in race relations, Women's Rights, LGBT Rights, better working conditions, greater protection for the environment, not to mention better housing and care for the poor and elderly. We also showed that together, we could change foreign policy and end our involvement in baseless wars (and music. We gave you some damn great music thank you very much but we aren't taking the blame for double knit polyester leisure suits). I think the enduring support of Bernie Sanders shows that the potential for change is there, which the Democratic Party needs if it is to survive.

However, we need to remind ourselves that the political system itself is broken; broken beyond repair regardless of who is president (Hillary's participation in rigging the primary results and at the DNC convention against Bernie along with the media's under reporting is a prime example to avoid damaging Hillary of just how broken it is). We have lost our democratic or Constitutional Republic. It's controlled by the Oligarchs; the top one or even two percent of the wealthiest individuals and their corporations. They determine this nation's political agenda, not us. They decide economic policy and what wars or conflicts we will be involved in. Government's job is to sell it to us, which they do through the use of their propaganda wing, the corporate media, which is owned by the Oligarchs. The Oligarchs couldn't begin to care which political party wins or loses. Elections are just diversions and entertainment for them, and why shouldn't it be when they control the ultimate outcome while we're left the satisfaction that we magically accomplished something by ousting one political prostitute for another. Reformers, should they actually get elected, are given busy work to tax their attention and energy to the point where it's simply humanly impossible to push through any real change. Besides, the system itself, with its subcommittees and committees, and so forth; each with its own doorkeeper, limits whatever sees the light of day. Hillary certainly knows this better than anyone. That's why she knew that she could make all the grandiose promises she wanted without any fear of being called on any of them. She knew she could always blame it on the system. Trump's naiveté' may help in that regard. He's a businessman. He's used to wheeling and dealing and breaking rules. He doesn't know how the system functions or that reformers are "suppose" to fail, but if they can succeed, he's got the right job to make it happen.

For those who are interested in changing not just the rules of the game, but the game itself, this election may just be your last opportunity since the Oligarchs will ensure that an unvetted outsider like Donald Trump will never get this opportunity again just like they did when Ross Perot ran an third party candidate when they changed the rules to make it virtually impossible for an Independent or third party candidate to participate in the Presidential debates or get any corporate media coverage. For those optimists who still think they can work within the system, now would be a good time to start in earnest to restore both political parties to what they once were and away from their extremist agendas. For everyone else, now is the time to start thinking about reforming existing election laws to make participatory politics a real possibility, like imposing term limits, serious campaign finance reform and ending Citizens United which created corporate "Frankensteins" with unlimited donation capabilities or at least opening it up to where flesh and blood people have the same option. Removing nearly unachievable signature requirements on Indies or third party candidates who want to run for office (for instance, a Democrat or Republican candidate may need only three signatures to get on the ballot while an Independent or third party will need 500 signatures), allowing voter referendums and initiatives.

Finally, end gerrymandering which allows legislatures to draw their own legislative districts, thus nearly guaranteeing their reelection. As for those wanting to loot, resort to violence, burn and destroy property, it's time to disassociate ourselves from those individuals and groups. Change for the betterment of society is not what they want. Theirs is extortion, thuggery and theft by other means. That's all. It promotes only hatred and its final outcome won't be good for those doing it. It's time to leave that blunder headed behavior and thinking behind. So, are you all up to the task? The time is now.

Oh, and by the way for all those blowhard "celebrities" who were making promises they didn't think they'd have to follow through on, yes, we were listening. So, if you want to keep whatever shred of credibility you've managed to build up over the years, I suggest you start calling around for moving vans now to get the best prices before the holidays.
